Is It True That In Tennis Not All Points Are Equal ?
Initially all points seem to be equal but, in reality they all have a different value which is intrinsically tied to the moment at which the point is played therefore the score. For example, an apparently innocuous first point 15-0 or 0-15 of a match can be a pretty straightforward ace affair on a hard grass-court or a 10 to 20 minute battle on clay. In the first case there are no scars. In the second situation the damage can be substantial. I have seen matches where the conqueror of that first point runs away with a quick 6-0 set. In other cases it takes so much energy from the winner of that 15-0 point that they end up losing that game and the set. Once again in the first situation it is easy, you won a straight forward point. In the second it is hard to turn around, relegate it to oblivion and start all over again and become detached from a major battle for a point where you gave it all and lost. Neverthless, if you want to be a top mental percentage player it is a must, just tell your bruised ego to forget it, regroup and do battle again. So what is behind a point, your whole self or nothing. It all depends on the importance you attach to it. In the BIG...

Loyalty Cards Think Again!
Are credit card loyalty schemes worth the plastic they re printed on. According to a recent study by moneysavingexpert .com the answer is a resounding NO . The study investigated 80 reward schemes and was especially unimpressed by Tesco s Clubcard, Nectar and Airmiles. With the average value of each Tesco Clubcard point being worth from 1 to 4 pence, a Nectar point being worth 0.54 pence and an Airmile being valued at 7.9 pence, their reaction is hardly surprising. In actual fact, an expenditure of 10,000 per annum will earn a reward of 50 with Marks Spencer, John Lewis and Asda, for instance. There is an Egg scheme which would only reward you with 10 per 10.000, although internet banks Egg Money Card offers a better rate, at 100. With the Nat West Black card, there is an annual charge of 250 in order to earn 51 per 10,000 of spending. Can you afford to make the saving. There have been some very big changes in the benefits available recently. Some of the larger stores have ditched their schemes totally, whilst others have radically reduced the rewards on offer. Barclaycard is no longer linked with the Nectar scheme and Tesco has reduced the value of its scheme...

Authenticity: Your Advantage Over The Big Guys
At a business conference recently I got a powerful message about the power of authenticity. Paul Ray, coauthor of the best-selling book, The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million People Are Changing the World, gave a compelling presentation about how small business can leverage their authenticity to achieve greater success. Ray shared that if you own or work in a small, socially responsible business, you have a big advantage over the big guys, the Fortune 500-type corporations. While not every big business is bad and not every small business is good, the public does not, in general, place much trust in the big guys. Enron, WorldCom, and Tyco are just a few examples of big companies that lost the trust of their employees, customers and communities. I always feel a bit sad when a favorite company, like Ben Jerry s or Celestial Seasonings, gets bought by the big guys. I believe the product and company culture will probably change. When we re smaller, it s easier in our marketing with both customers and prospective customers to share who we really are. We can share about our staff, our processes, our materials and why we operate the way we do. Authenticity, Ray said...

New Insight-transformation Of Migraines Causes Fibromyalgia
Migraines are thought of as normal neurological functions interspersed with episodes of headaches. At least 20 of migraineurs meeting the International Headache Society criteria have changed the pattern from episodes of migraine into patterns of chronic headache. Chronic headache often does not return to normal neurological function. This evolving process from episodic headache to chronic headache is called transformation. In the population segment of chronic daily headache, migraine appears to be a progressive neurological disease. The decline of normal neurological function between episodes of migraine greatly exacerbates the migraine syndrome. Transformation is a process that occurs usually over years. Usually the migraineur starts off having acute episodic migraines. As someone continues to have migraines over time, the pain can occur more often and start merging together with a mixed headache pattern of lower severity migraines intermingled with more severe episodes. The mixed headache pattern can further transform into chronic daily headache. These transformed headaches can be caused by rebound phenomenon or can happen by reasons that are not fully...
